Avenger Down - click here * Updated, thanks to Rich Allenby

We have received some excellent information
further to the Gloster Gladiator crash from
Mr PHILL JONES which we have reproduced
here.

Many Thanks to Mr Jones and our apolgies
that it has taken so long to update the site
with his valued contribution

The collision between 2 Gloster Gladiators on 24 November 1943, during filming. See HERE for a description & a fascinating photograph. Can you help us identify the film & the men in the photo?

The BHAA has a display at the Llangollen Museum. Photo here.

Avenger FN821 848 Sqn FAA crashed in Snowdonia on 3rd February 1944,  four were killed. We have details of three: Sub Lt Appleby, Sub Lt. Green & Sub Lt. Lupton, which one was the pilot? Who or what was the 4th crew member, named only as ‘A Passenger’? Any info on the above most welcome.

Do you know what became of Sgt. Barry. See Crash 11

Information required about the loss of a 'Tern Hill' Master Mk1. It crashed during War Weapons Week at Barmouth. Saturday 15th to 22nd March 1941. It was one of two that were on display. Control was lost & the aircraft dived into sand dunes, where the dry boat yard is now. It narrowly missed a group of children there to watch the display. It was possibly Weds 19th March.

Details required about a Harvard lost by Harlech Castle, around July/August 1940 to '42. A Canadian who was with The Boys Brigade at the time recalls the bright yellow Harvard circling low. The pilot waved to the boys who were in the area. Sadly something went wrong & the plane crashed near them. It crashed into a raised piece of ground 'below' the castle on marshland. They saw the pilot in white overalls struggle to free himself as the aircraft exploded.

Aviation author & Archaeologist Terry Hill is interested in information concerning the loss of a B17 in North Wales, possibly in the Llandudno area?
